I used to sell Avon in fact I was one of the largest recruiters on the east coast. I retired from Avon a year ago. I just wasn't making the money I wanted on my downline and it was really hard work and the people in Avon

the district managers here locally would scream and say the F word to me.. It was really sad because I loved the company. I recruited 1000 of people for Avon.
You can't buy Mark in the stores, but you can order them from Avon represenitives, off the Avon website or the official Mark site - http://www.meetmark.com/PRSuite/home/hom鈥?/a>

Is there a website that compares department store cosmetics to drug store brands?

I just did an online makeover and got the names of some products that look good on me, however they are all department store brands which I can't afford. I would love to be able to go to a website and type in ';Calvin Klein - Aubergine eye shadow'; and get the name of a similar product from Cover Girl or Maybelline. Is there a website that compares department store cosmetics to drug store brands?
I think Campare.com doesIs there a website that compares department store cosmetics to drug store brands?
There is a woman called Paula Begoun who compares makeup and skin care products. She's written books, is often on TV (The View, Today Show, etc.) and she also has a website. Although I don't always agree with EVERYTHING she says, it's a great source! It also has a very comprehensive ingredient dictionary.

One thing I DON'T recommend, ironically, is her own products- awful!!
I totally agree with Diane H. I am a Mary Kay Consultant, and when I am on this site, I normally give advice. I can answer any questions you have. I know a lot about both department and store brand cosmetics because I have used both as a normal consumer before I became a consultant. I can tell you how my skin looked and felt, and describe my skin now. You can email me at anytime. I'll be glad to answer your questions. Thanks!

The tough thing about drug store brands is choosing the right ones. You can't really try them out. It's pretty easy to make a mistake. Many of us have whole drawers full of makeup that didn't look good when we tried it on.

Department store brands are a step up, because you are getting to try out the product, and you have a professional there to help you. Unfortunately, you are right, they can be expensive. Also, you don't really develop a relationship with the person at the counter.

Mary Kay is competitive with department store brands, but at a lower cost because they don't have the overhead of being in the store, advertising, and warehousing. You can try before you buy, the products are 100% guaranteed, and you get a consultant who will stick with you as long as you want her!

You can usually get free products from a consultant by participating in an event or just inviting a few of your friends to join you for a makeover party! That should help you keep the costs down.

The products are fantastic, too!

I'm not supposed to post the web address, because it would be considered advertising, but do a search on Mary Kay, and I'm sure you'll find the corporate site. From there you can do a search for a consultant in your area.

Her services are free, so you can feel free to contact her even if you're not ready to buy and just want to learn more!

Good luck!
Yes, there are several, although none are comprehensive.

How do you store your cosmetics and hair products?

i store my cosmetics in a droor below my mirror in my bathroom with a chair in front.

i put my hair products in a 3 shelve cabinet in my bathroom.

How do you store yours? jw?How do you store your cosmetics and hair products?
Wow what a great question!

I find if I keep baskets on my counter it helps me when I'm in a hurry to stay neat.

I do keep my makeup in a drawer, skincare in another.

My hairsprays etc...are usually in taller cans so a neat basket works great and I keep them on my counter.

The same with perfumes, body lotions I keep in another.

Things stay organized for me as I am always rushed.

As a hair stylist I am always trying the latest in beauty products and have too many. Some girls like shoes, some purses, me cosmetics.

I look forward to other ideas. Thanks again for a great question. How do you store your cosmetics and hair products?
I put my makeup in a makeup bag, and my hair products i leave on the bathroom counter, just don't let hair mousse get hot, it totally kills it.
i store my cosmetics in my makeup bag and in my bathroom and i store my hair products in a drawer and on top of my counter
I use a makeup bag,

since I have a lot of makeup,

and it holds them all in a fairly small container.

Your way is good though!
I have been staying with my boyfriend and all of those products are now being stored in 2 small containers with lids and stuffed into a grocery store bag.
My makeup is all in a makeup bag which I store under the bathroom sink and my hair cair products are in the medicine cabinet.
Great question, I'm always looking for a better way. Right now, mine are all over my vanity table.

Do you buy department store cosmetics or the drug store stuff?

Which one do you buy? Department store stuff like MAC or Lancome or drug store things like Cover Girl and Revlon. Personally I buy department store stuff in everything except for mascaraDo you buy department store cosmetics or the drug store stuff?
I prefer department store products. My skin works better with them somehow.

Do other women feel intimidated going to dept store cosmetics counters for a makeover?

I wanted to go to a cosmetics counter for a makeover but feel intimidated. Everything looks so glamorous and beautiful, but I am afraid when the session is over, I will have spent so much, but not be able to use what I have bought.Do other women feel intimidated going to dept store cosmetics counters for a makeover?
That is why they are there honey! Don't feel intimidated whatsoever, that is their job. If you want something buy it, and if not then don't. Do not let them push you to buy anything. Maybe at the end you can say something nice so you you don't feel all bad, you know leave them hanging, for example, ';Do you have a card? I really liked how you did my make-up and I want to come back and get more make-up.'; Hope this helps!Do other women feel intimidated going to dept store cosmetics counters for a makeover?
Well just go and ask if they can do it for you see what they say, and see if you have to pay for something for that.
I love a makeover and really before you go to one make sure you don't have to buy something and if you do it should me under $15.00 also they will teach you how to use the products so don't be afraid go to the MAC counters they are great
Have you ever thought about having someone come to you, in your home, or in a mutual place to discuss your makeup issues with you and give you a free makeover??? Mary Kay does this and I am sure you have a rep in your area. if you are not sure, you can go to marykay.com and look up your area. it makes it convient for you and you dont have to buy anything. their products are great and inexpensive.
I like going to Sephora because the makeup artists there don't feel the urge or need to push products on you, and they don't work on commission. So there's less pressure.

They help you choose products from different lines, and apply it for you, and teach you if you like.

I find those better then department stores.
just don't weary about it
