Question about getting FREE stuff in Lush Cosmetic Stores?

I've seen people say on here that when they purchased like 20 dollars or over on lush products in their stores, that they've gotten freebies with it. Well I went into a lush store for the first time in my life today, cause I live over 200 miles from it. Anyways, since I live so far away, I bought about 55 dollars worth of products so I'd be stocked for awhile, and I got NOTHING for free along with it. I just find that a little odd since I see people talking about freebies a lot on here. Is it only online purchases that come with freebies?Question about getting FREE stuff in Lush Cosmetic Stores?

You probably have to go when there's a special advertised deal.


And they usually give out crap loads of free samples, since they can cut their products down to really really small sizes.


I remember I had one of those bags that were like ';Bring this back 4 times and get a free 100g of Sexy Peel soap'; and it had stamps on the front. I did over a few months, and got my soap. That's pretty much the only way I've ever gotten a freebie.
Actually, when you go. You have to ask for free samples, they don't usually give away stuff unless they see you are a regular shopper there or somebody knows you from YouTube.
I visited my first Lush store in NC last weekend and bought around $80 worth of goodies. I asked the sales lady if they had any free samples and she gave me a small goodie bag full of freebies.
You usually have to ask for samples and stuff..I have gone in there before many times just to ask for samples and they are good sizes

Would you work at cosmetics store given these conditions?

I went on an interview at a cosmetic store than 99% caters to white women. As a black female coming in the store, the ladies were generally nice and asked me a few questions, one being if I would be comfortable working in a store that primarily catered to Caucasian women and if an old white lady did not want me to help her figuring that I knew nothing about the product line being of darker skin, how would I handle that. They also mentioned that they serve the Socialites in the area and some may be snobby and not want me to help them because of my darker skin. They asked if I was confy with this. I knew that this would come up in conversation being that I'm working for a cosmetics store were pretty much all of the customers will be white. One of the ladies also applauded me for considering the position knowing this. They also mentioned that even with me being different than most of the customers in the store, would I be comfortable. Well, my dear, the reality is that we are living in a society that is very judgmental about our race and color. Being from Middle East, I sympathize with you. However, here is my answer: Go for the position and show that you know what you are doing. If someone does not want you, that is their loss. In fact, considering that you are dark, you have an objective view on what looks better on a white skin versus a tanner skin. Find the names of black makeup artists that are famous and work on celebrities and remember to use those names when you are attacked with an offensive remark. Good Luck!
well, i don't know your background and expertise, a certified cosmetologist is trained to work with all skin types and all skin tones, so race really shouldn't matter, if you are confident in your knowledge. this may be a great opportunity for you to help expand the store's customer base, from grumpy old women to a hipper crowd. good luck !!!
maybe if they employed more black women they would find that more black woman were happy to shop there- actually i cannot believe that in 2007 these questions are still being asked . I work in the UK employing beauty consultants and would never dream of asking those kind off questions . Good Luck i hope you find a great job..
If your are comfortable with it why not? I saw black women working the cosmetics counter at Macys the other day and I think it's good. Maybe it would make others comfortable to go into a place like that if they see you working there.

i think its nice of them to prepare you before you get the job and get an a$$hole and freak out. if you are comfortable take the job. it doesn't seem like the ladies you will be working with are rude and hateful, if they didnt like you they didnt have to talk with you about this. luck.
It seems like that ladies that you will be working with on a daily basis are friendly and nice to you. That can help a lot. If you have a nasty customer it will help to have fellow associates on your side who you can talk to. It does seem like it might be a difficult situation for you to be in. You are going to have to ask yourself if you can handle that drama that may occur on a daily basis or not at all from these snobby socialites. If you decide to take the job kudos to you for taking a position that means you will have to stand your ground and maybe show these old ladies that all people can be wonderful sales people.
Personally, I think it wasn't really rude of them to ask you that question. They were just being honest. But if I was in your position, if I think I can handle that well then I would go for it. But realistically speaking also, I would RATHER not have or I would rather choose to find another job that I would not subject myself to indifference. The truth is we are in a world/society where we are being judged with the color of our skin. And people are struggling everyday. My point is you have a choice (there are other jobs out there) you don't have to prove anything. Don't risk yourself sticking out like a sore thumb. There are a lot more jobs out there that will make you feel welcome.
look at it this way..it would be a learning experience for you and for the customers

I don't know, their questions seem a little bit off, like they might be trying to scare you away from wanting the position. I think it's okay for them to let you know that the majority of the customers need help with cosmetics that may be different from what you're used to. But why would they have to say that an old white woman might not want you to help her?!?! That could happen if you're a waitress, or a secretary, or in any other profession, but they don't usually bring it up in the interview! It sounds a bit strange to me.
Well, I have to applaud them for being honest. I mean it was harsh but probably true (they know their clientele). Did THEY seem nice? Would you be comfortable working with them? If you like them and it seems like a good working environment with room for advancement. Go for it. I know that I wouldn't have any problems asking a woman of color make up advice. I'm not black but I have dark skin and I have problems picking out good shades, yeah, I'd actually prefer a woman of color. Do good work and know your product and no one will have any problem with your skin color. It's up to you. Good luck :)

I think you should work it girl as a beautiful black woman. Stop with the stigma and get the job. So what if you are working with the majority of white people. Tell yourself that you CAN do the job and nothing can defeat you. So what if white women don't want you to help them. You should always put yourself in someone else's shoes like how does a white person feel when they are surrounded by all blacks are they comfortable, do you make them comfortable? Don't ever let someone else discourage you from getting something you want just because of your skin color or you will be setting yourself up. Do you think Oprah let that get in her way?





Do what you need to do and represent and be the best damn makeup artist/seller that they have ever encountered.

Sally Hansen has a lip plumper called Lip Inflation Plumping Treatment. I've used the clear gloss and it's very tingly!

Mac Cosmetics store question...?

I'm getting contacts soon, and I don't think I look very good without my glasses. I've never used make up before and when I do I end up looking like a transvestite even though I hardly put any make up on. I'm planning on going to the mall tomorrow and going to the Mac Cosmetics Store and have them do my make up. When I go in there do I just tell them about me getting contacts and how I'm going for a new look? How much does it cost to have them do my make up? And after that do they make you buy the make up?Mac Cosmetics store question...?
I live in Louisiana. I have called the MAC store and asked the same question...unless they are running a special where they do a ton of makeovers in one day, a make up application is $40..and you get to keep the mascara. I am obsessed with Mac. The people in the store by me are really nice, but the store is usually quite busy during peak times. Just make sure that they know that you want to look natural. They often like to do a dramatic look (more fun for them).





It should be free, but it would be in bad taste not to buy anything if they do your makeup. Their eyeshadow is great, but lipglass is usually a good buy if you don't want to spend too much money.

it doesnt cost anything they just want yo to buy a thing or two. if you want a more natural look try going to bobbi brown or clinique. they have a more natural palette to work with to stay away from the loud look that you dont want
Getting the ';makeover'; is free. The products are fairly expensive but you can just decide what you want to buy, you don't have to purchese everything they use. (Especially the brushes, they are VERY expensive)
It doesn't cost to do the makeup, you just have to but two or three items (depending on the store so ask beforehand), and they can be the cheapest ones if you want.
you should try a brand with more nuetral colors like clarins, bobbi brown

okay.. so i have a few queations about the store mac. Cause i've just gotten into mac and the next time i go there there is some thing i need to know(: ;


so my first question is at the store, Do the products even have prices on them or near them somewhere? Cuz the last time i went in there i didn't see the prices and i just like guessed how much one thing costs and got it. But when i have a smaller budget next time, i don't want to like go around asking how much everything costs and annoying the girl who works there. or am i like just supposed to remember how much everything costs from the website or something?





another question is does it cost anything to get your makeup done there? and like how should you ask? i'm clueless. lol

ok so unfortunately they dont have prices on their products and i have no clue why, but the women that work there dont mind telling you how much everything is it's part of their job.





getting your makeup done there costs $50 and when you ask make sure you like how they did their makeup because they are gonna be the one doing yours but they'll be happy to set up an appointment with you.





and i would suggest getting a bunch of their eyeshadows they are so much fun and allow you to change your look whenever, also fluidline blitz glizt is my favorite gel liner it looks awesome

No there's no prices, and no it doesnt not cost to get your makeup done look online for all the prices so you'll know make a Mac shopping list with the prices next to them I did but I know all the prices of almost everything now lol
You should probably have a general idea of what you're going to buy or look at before you go to the MAC counter. (Via the MAC Website) This way, you know the about price of the things you're looking at. You can usually assume the prices of most products. Find the general range of the products you're looking for. (Eyeshadows are $14-$20, Mascara is $12, etc.)





What products are you looking to buy? MAC is best for their eye products. The eyeshadows come in many varieties and colors. The quality is very good. It blends easily, applies smoothly. Yet, MAC foundations are thick and clay-like. Many people break out from their foundations, especially if you have sensitive skin. Again, have a basic idea of what you'd like to buy. It's okay to test some of the samples, to see if it's really what you want to purchase.





It depends on what extent you're going to when you want them to do your makeup. If you want an entire makeover, using many of their products, I assume it's going to cost you something for their time. If you're having them test a few products on you, with an interest to buy one of their products, then it's not going to cost anything.

I'd say start with your face, skin,


if you have really bad acne or just not the best skin. id say get a liquid foundation from there the girls could help you out.


if you have just some breakouts hiding underneath your skin id use the Studio Fix, its amazing i own it. Thats a powder foundation.


Then once you have that.. maybe start with the eyeliners %26amp; mascara?


They have various colors so whatever suits you best i guess.


They have liquid eyeliner, pencil and what not ..


They have a bunch of eyeshadows. there basic eyeshadows are 18$ each, there special ones are maybe like 25? i couldnt be to to sure.





There MAC brushes are quite the exspensive little things ..


They last sooo long though, so if you ever do buy them they'd last you years.


Sometimes theres deals on, so make sure you ask or something cuse i got a speical for like 50$ which came with, like 4 brushes, and a blush brush. thats an AMAZINNGG deal. so watch out for those.
