I am totally addicted to Lush cosmetics, the only problem I find is how to store them - at the moment they are all tied up in plastic baggies, but this is crap.
Any handy tips?Lush cosmetics - how do you store them?
Hi I was addicted to Lush too, Ive calmed down on it a bit now though. Is these new site on yet as I cant seem to long in online or into the forum or do you shop in a store in your town, please would you let me(email me) know if you order online and what the new website is or is it the same ? Thanks
Anyways back to your question, lol
I used to store mine in a gift bag that I got one xmas someone got me a prezzie and I just put all my Lush Stuff in it to carry upstairs in and I kind of stuck with it. The my husband bought me a hat box which was big enough to store every bit of my Lush in, Until I got more lol and then the best thing is to put in your bathroom or bed room one of the plastic storage slidy draw things on wheels, and have a draw for each bit of Lush stuff you have. Plastic containers with the seals are always good too, but quite hard to find somewhere to put out of the way.
So I would have one draw for bathboms and soaps, others for showergels and bubbles etc.
Ive asked this question before on the Lush Forum, and most people say they store them still in there bags in there draws so this makes there clothes smell nice, and also in tubs in the wardrobe or something, just so there out of the way and kept in the dark and fresh, But if you like me and got so much stuff that you dont have the room then storage boxes are always good.
I bet your house/room is smelling lovely of Lush at the moment.Lush cosmetics - how do you store them?
LUSH has special tins for their shampoo bars, bath bars, and bath cakes. There is also a roll-up case that holds all of your LUSHious items together. Hope this helps. Report Abuse
place them in a storage box. I have a small one under my bed with loads of bath bombs in, makes your room smell nice too by having them out.
I know exactly what you mean. I had to purchase a massage bar tin for my Shimmy Shimmy bar, because it kept going everywhere. My bubble bars, I tend to just keep them in the paper bag they came in if I haven't used all of it, same goes for my bath bombs, just keep it in the yellow paper bag. I keep my soaps in a soap tray I've got, and my shower jelly is in the plastic tub they give you. My bathroom cupboard is full of their products so I know how you feel.
So do I, I love the stuff, Don't buy too much at once, buy a plastic fridge container and put them in that. Leave them in the fridge, thats were mine are.
With them being made with fresh ingredients they are likely to go off quickly anywhere else.

For ppl in cosmetics/fragrances at dept. stores!!?
If you work in the cosmetic areas or fragrance areas of a dept. store (I work for Macy's in a smaller city) what kinds of ';spiffs'; do you get?
ie: we used to be able to get tester bottles of perfume and new employees got to try skin care so they got certain testers to try at home. Now that we have turned over to a new district, we arent allowed to even take home SAMPLES! I think it is so unfair and since we work there I think we should be able to at least try the products we sell and get to have contests etc. that have prizes like all the testers we have!
When we get rid of the testers, we have to give them to our Lost Prevention MNGR. and he breaks them and disposes of the substance in a big tub. UNFAIR!!!
Tell me what you think, what do you guys get to do...ETC! Sorry if I can't explain well. :)For ppl in cosmetics/fragrances at dept. stores!!?
I work at a small Macy's and we still get things if the manager and loss prevention signs them out. I guess I can look forward to that ending soon. For ppl in cosmetics/fragrances at dept. stores!!?

Is the cosmetics brand e.l.f sold in stores?
in the uk?Is the cosmetics brand e.l.f sold in stores?
It's a cheap brand, with very low quality products. I suggest you look into other cosmetic product's which are similar in price, but have much better quality. e.l.f would most likely be sold at local drugstores, and small cosmetic shops. Is the cosmetics brand e.l.f sold in stores?
problem with elf is MADE IN CHINA.
tried their blush, very powdery prone to becoming airborne, and the pigmentation.
there's a reason why it is so cheap. don't expect quality. ughhh
you look as good as the makeup's quality. in my opinion very substandard.
recommend chanel, or coonobabe
its sold at burlington coat factory

Going to a MAC cosmetics store tomorrow and...?
What are some MAC must-haves in your opinion?
(I asked this twice because I need more answers)
If you answered the first time and have the same answer, you don't need to answer this one (:Going to a MAC cosmetics store tomorrow and...?
a paint pot! either in painterly or rubenesque. you can use both of those underneath your eyeshadows for everyday looks and it works like a primer.
also their concealers are awesome! tell them what kind you're looking for and they'll match your color for you :)
and lastly, they have the beeeest eyeshadows.. just choose a pretty color that you think you would use as an everyday look so it will be worth your money :)Going to a MAC cosmetics store tomorrow and...?
if im going shopping at mac, ill only ever buy products that either only mac makes, or if macs quality is unbeatable compared to other brands. otherwise youre better off buying products at a more affordable price.
the only eyeshadows i use are from mac. my favourites are 'brown script' (a matte reddish-brown, good for a natural look and for contouring) and 'tempting' (this shade is extremely popular in japan and was sold out everytime i visited a mac counter. i eventually had to get a friend from overseas to send it to me. a shimmery dark gold color that can work great either as a glamourous look or a natural look).
im also in love with their liquid glitter eyeliners. they can either be smudged so that they work as a glittery eyeshadow, or you can apply it along your lash line for an instantly updated look. i prefer their turquoise and their purple (forgot their proper names).
im also a big fan of their mineralize powders and their skinfinish powders.
Definitely the mac powder foundation. It blends in so well and they have a variety of shades to match any skin tone. Just ask one of the employees to find your shade, it will match your skin perfectly. It is however $30 but it's well worth it. I bought mine in December and I still have a lot left. The bottom of the compact isn't even visible yet lol. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide to buy! =)
For face i would reccommmend
-studio sculpt concealer
-mineralize skin finish natural
-blush (dame)
-eyeshadows (which ever color you prefer)
-dazzle glasses
also here is a link to a video that might help you:

you must have the frost brown lip stick it actually smells like chocolate that is a must or any kind of mac lip stick. and also mac mascara it is the number one must. you might want rosy cheeks %26amp; pink eye shadow must have it.
studio sculpt concealer and blush in pink swoon kim kardashian wears that and I love their eyeshadow in black tied and beautiful iris
Studio Sculpt Foundation
Studio Sculpt Concealer
Slimshine- Bare
Mineralized Skin Finish
Mac Fluidline

A paint pot.

Can you return cosmetics from target store for a refund?
i've bought an olay night cream from target yesterday and i found out that cvs is having a buy one get one free sale so i want to return it for a refund. Can you return cosmetics from target store for a refund?
if the cream has not been used/opened and u have a receipt.... absolutely
if you've used it and discarded the packaging.... depends on how nice the clerk is, maybe, maybe not
many stores offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee or price matching... i would call target and see if they will give a price adjustment to save you a trip! Can you return cosmetics from target store for a refund?
Many department stores have policies that allow for returns within 30 days but customers must have a receipt and the items have to be unopened or defective in order for the return to be possible.
Should a customer have a bad reaction to a cosmetic or other beauty product, then customers can usually receive a refund, credit or do an exchange.
If someone goes home and decides the color lipstick they bought does not go well with their skin color, chalk it up as a mistake and bite the bullet and the bill. The factor with makeup that makes its return policies different from that of something like clothing, is that once worn, no one else can use it due to the germ factor. So, why return it? It's not the store's fault someone made the wrong decision
I know CVS, the return policy is very good. I work there.
Not sure about Target, but just say you had an allergic reaction if its opened. They shouldn't question it and should give you your money back.

What happens to used products, such as skin care and cosmetics, that are returned to a store or website?
Do they get repackaged and put back on the shelf? Do the employees get to take them home? Do they get sent back to the manufacturer? Are they just thrown away? I really would like to know. What happens to used products, such as skin care and cosmetics, that are returned to a store or website?
I worked at bath and body works for a year, and they have a policy that you can return anything even if you've used it.
If the person told us they used the product or we even suspected they used it, we had to squeeze the product into the trashcan and then throw away the bottle. If it was an item that wasn't used and came from our store, we put it back on the shelf. It it was an item that wasn't used but wasn't in our store, there was a prize drawer in the back that the employees could choose from if they did really well in sales, etc. I once got a $95 item that I took back to the store it was originally from and returned it for other items I actually needed. This is a little bit against the policies, but it helped me out!!
There are laws against anyone using used cosmetics. The store has to throw them out. The employess wouldn't take home used cosmetics because that's gross. I guess some stores send stuff back to the manufacturer, but the majority of it gets thrown out. What happens to used products, such as skin care and cosmetics, that are returned to a store or website?
well the products r not returned the companies do not agree to take it back they only agree to take the un used products o they accept to take back the products that r less in quality and give u another one

If there are, why are they? How to get there? I've never taken time to buy cosmetics in BKK. I want to go to those big stores where I can just test out the colours. Are there Mac, Makeup Forever %26amp; Nars cosmetic counters/stores in Bangkok?
Most department stores, like Central or MBK, have them. I'm not sure about forever and Nars but there's definitely MAC store every where. Find the one close to you. If you're close to the sky train, take it and get off at Siam there're tons of department stores and shops there.
Try this if you're close to Central Lat-phrao

Why are sleeping masks sold in the cosmetic section of most stores?
Why do they sell sleeping masks -- the kind that keep the light out of your eyes -- in the cosmetic sections of most stores?
I love sleeping masks, but I feel all girlie buying them. (I'm a guy.)Why are sleeping masks sold in the cosmetic section of most stores?
Dunno, I know what you mean though,I feel a bit girly when I go to buy my lipstick and mascaraWhy are sleeping masks sold in the cosmetic section of most stores?
They're used so that you can get your beauty sleep.
What's with the thumbs down? That is what they were originally marketed for, so that you could get a good night's sleep and thus eliminate bags under your eyes and reduce the wrinkles around them. They were placed in the cosmetic section for this reason and have been kept there ever since.
because a lot of times they are used so that you sleep and have less dark circles under the eyes--what women care about!

Do they sell the Mac Cosmetics Pro Pallete eye shadow at the MAC stores?
i want to buy A MAC Cosmetics Pro Pallete Eye Shadow the one that fits 15 eye shadows. do they sell it at the MAC Stores?
http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.鈥?/a>Do they sell the Mac Cosmetics Pro Pallete eye shadow at the MAC stores?
The MAC Pro Pan palette is actually not a pro product so you could find at any free standing mac store and at the mac website. Anything on the regular mac website you can find in mac stores. The pan palettes cannot be found however at counters in department stores, only in mac storesDo they sell the Mac Cosmetics Pro Pallete eye shadow at the MAC stores?
If it is a pro item, no, they do not. You need to go to a PRO store and get it. That store is only located in four states. I know it's in NYC and LA. That is where they have special eye shadows, lipsticks, etc that you can't get at a MAC store at Macy's, Nordstroms, or even their regular store. You can order from the MAC Pro store by phone, if there isn't one near you. Also, they offer a special program where you can get discounts.
Only if you're a makeup artist, freelancer, photographer, model, actress, etc. They have a complete list on their site. Depending on what you do, you can get up to 60% off. They have limits and rules, though. But for advice, don't try and fake your way in. It takes awhile for them to get back to you. Why? Because they are taking their time, reviewing your credentials (you have to provide actual proof, business cards, degree, etc) and if they find out you faked it, they will keep you on a list and it will become even HARDER to get in next time.
As previous answer, no, they are only available at the Pro Store, I have to drive 3 hours to go to the one in Dallas, or I hit the one in Vegas when I go yearly.
If you are part of a message board that does trading or buying/selling among members (like www.specktra.com) you might be able to swap or buy one from someone directly, but the MAC Pro stores are usually really good about phone orders as she already mentioned.

Ulta is a store similar to Sephora but they also carry drugstore brands as well as high end brands. If you're looking for cheaper alternatives to high end cosmetics, you should really go by the product. Revlon and L'Oreal both have great foundations and eyeliners, Maybelline ad Cover Girl have great eyeshadows and mascaras, any brand is good for lip gloss, and Physician's Formula and Jane are good for blushes. Hope that helped! Good luck!
http://ulta.com/ulta/. This store has brands that you can find in your local walmart also. Plus the other name brands. Prices should be the same every where though. One store may not be cheaper than the other. It just depends on the brand.

Who else out there thinks its hard to get a cosmetics department store job?
I graduated from Makeup college and they still dont seem to care. Not that it excites me to get a job at Macys for Godsake but I need SOMETHING!! Its not the most glamorous job simply because the people that work in retail have snotty attitudes, try and push EVERYTHING on customers, bad customer service, jeeezus, the list just goes on. Its all about being commercialized and pushy, WE are ALL THAT and its everything Im against..........hmm no WONDER I never really wanted to work there! Who else thinks department stores suck? I just went and talked to managers at a Macys and got treated negatively no matter how nice and how long I waited around to get this job, they didnt even intend to give it to me Im guessing...........God Sometimes I feel as a makeup artist I just want a job in which I can succeed. Im not sure what else to do. I graduated 3 months ago and dont have a steady line of paying clients. But yet I just have to keep on keeping on?? Sitting on my ***?Who else out there thinks its hard to get a cosmetics department store job?

Mac Cosmetics sold at Department Stores. What is so great about Mac? I hear good things about it. Help!?
Be careful with Mac. It is highly pigmented, meant for photo shoots, runway, tv. etc. It's very difficult for the average woman to deal with in everyday life. You have to have the right brushes as well! If you go for some of the lighter colors, it's fine, but if you want that edge be sure you know how to put it on like a pro. Their skin care is garbage, I can say that honestly.
Try Dior for beautiful bold colors. They go on like silk and are wonderful to work with (blending etc).Mac Cosmetics sold at Department Stores. What is so great about Mac? I hear good things about it. Help!?
Mac make up is edgy and the colors are always fashion forward. What makes it even more alluring to shoppers is that the people who work there does wear the product and shoppers can actually see what it looks like on individuals. You also have these make up artist use the products on you while you try them out. They get you really excited about putting on make up and trying new things because they walk along side you and help you with your ideal look. Mac is not just about make up it's about the whole experience with it. Make up is an art form and your face is the canvas. They just help give you the confidence to try something new. How many times have you walked into a store and was too afraid to try on that bright red lip stick because you're afraid it won't look well with the other make up in your vanity set? Mac takes all your fears away and leaving you feeling confident and sexy! That's what's great about MAC.Mac Cosmetics sold at Department Stores. What is so great about Mac? Makeup =).
They exhibit a wide range of products from your face to lips and to your eyes
They have high quality brushes made to suit everyone's taste =)
Its a professional studio brand
Mostly used in Runways.=)
The best thing about it is that they are not tested on animals
Like Loreal and Maybelline are all tested on animals
I would strongly recommend u to try it.
Start small and later grow big =)

NYX cosmetics products sold in Riteaid stores?
I was looking at riteaid.com and was looking at the makeup section of the web site and I came across NYX cosmetic products and I was going to order them from cherryculture.com, but I was wondering if Riteaid stores had NYX products, so I wouldn't have to order them from the site. Does Rite Aid sell NYX products or is it just online?NYX cosmetics products sold in Riteaid stores?
I've only seen Rite Aid in one store near me, so I guess it's just by luck if you find them in the store. ULTA, if you have one near you, keeps them in stock. However, you won't find all the colors there. Besides Cherry Culture, there's another online site, Nonpareil Boutique, that sells NYX for pretty cheap. I just ordered a bunch of stuff from there. If you really want to buy it in the stores though, ULTA is your best bet.
NYX cosmetics products sold in Riteaid stores?
Not all of the stores do, but they do in some. You'll probably want to look around in your Rite Aid before you order. Also compare the prices since Cherry Culture sells all NYX for less.
Good Luck :)
Edit!
I just found another website that sells NYX for even less than Cherry culture. If you cant find any NYX at your Rite Aid, maybe check out this site too :)

Has anyone ever worked for Channel Cosmetics at a department store counter?
I currently work as a beauty advisor for Clinique but it is very stressfull, especially at pre-sell time before the free gift begins. Does Channel have a bonus time and require preselling, Also, do they get gratus? Any information I can get would be appreciated. I would like to know the differences between a Channel Beauty advisor compared to a Clinique Beauty advisor.Has anyone ever worked for Channel Cosmetics at a department store counter?
i worked for chanel several years ago. chanel does not so specials. you won't see their products on sale. the only discount would be if you bought a fragrance gift set, and then it would only be a matter of a few bucks.i got paid by the dept. store plus i got paid on a commission by chanel. where i live, chanel sent us to nyc for a 2 day seminar1--2 times a year to learn about the products and see how the make-up artists do their thing. basically these cosmetic companies are the same. chanel is a higher end company, but that's because they are also fashion industry giants and loved worldwide.the product sells itself just because it is chanel, and it has weathered the test of time.Has anyone ever worked for Channel Cosmetics at a department store counter?
CHANEL never has GWP but they do require pre-selling at times.
They do get gratus.
As for the difference btw CHANEL beauty advisors and CLINIQUE beauty advisors? Just the products they are selling.other than that, there is no difference.. you both have products that you are responsible for selling. The only difference is the products and the product knowledge. The main objective for cosmetic sales is to sell the cosmetics/skincare.

What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?
When I go to the Mall I walk through the fancy stores and see all kinds of real pretty women buying cosmetics in the high end counters. I suspect this money would be better spent on more reasonably prices beauty goods at Target or Walmart, especially during a recession.
Why would a women spend so much money on overpriced cosmetics at a store like Macy's Nordstroms, Saks and Bloomingdales in today's economy? What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?
First of all your question is posted out of the class envy to the rich. It is people like yourself that are buying into the Obama liberal crap. First of all those rich people have worked hours and hours etc. to build their career or business and if they want to buy expensive it is THEIR RIGHT we live in a free country. Remeber this instead of hating them for buying high end cosemtics work hard and strive to be able to buy it yourself not be lazy and force communism on others to buy cheap products just because you cannot afford them.
And lastly I want to add as a note to open everyone's eyes
When Obama says he will not tax the poor and only tax the rich WAKE UP TO THE LIE first of all the poor are not taxed at all as is they get everything back when they file their taxes and all the rich business owners will move the jobs out of this country and never pay taxes and guess what its the middle class that will suffer they will pay for it and finally to teach you about economics my dear if you raise taxes to zing it to ';THE MAN'; its people like you that will pay for that tax increase because the cost of goods will increase so your Target brand covergirl istead of being 5.00 will cost you 10.00
Care about you, yourself stop envying those that have something you don't have and work harder so you can have it! I write this having escaped a communist country!
Also I want to answer NIK
Mineral makeup is not good for you when it contains BISMUTH this is a kin to arsenic and clogs pores etc. No matter what the makeup you SHOULD NEVER SLEEP IN IT that will destroy little by little your complexion and spin you off into a dull texture. Finally about yourname you are mistaken its not 10cents and you have to buy thousands and thousands of pieces and still pay min.10.00 dollars on average they actually manufacture for companies like Jane Iredale and L'oreal etc... Just wanted to make that point clear as your are mis informing the people asking questions. What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?
There is a big difference between drug store products and brand name products when it comes to quality. I typically use drug store products since I don't have a lot of money to spend on makeup. But for Christmas I got a gift set of Estee Lauder makeup and it is the best makeup I have ever used. So if you can afford it, especially when it comes to concealer and powder it is worth splurging on.
I guess that I'm one of those women. Makeup is my one of my guilty pleasures and I think that alot-not all-of the more high end products do have better benefits then the cheaper products. There are some in the cheaper brands that do have wonderful color payoff or work wonderful for your skin. I work and sometimes I love to splurge like that and buy cool makeup products.
I am 23 and I have no kids, I work my *** off ( I went to school and got a degree) to have nice things. I make double what some of the people I work with make. That doesn't make me better than them, I just knew that I wanted to have a certain kind of lifestyle and did something to have it. I am one of those people who go to the makeup counter and buy nice makeup. I love Dillards, Macy's, Sephora, and Ulta. I usually buy MAC, Bare Minerals, Stila, Clinique, Perscriptives, Hard Candy and Urban Decay. I love the eyeshadows, eyeliners, blushes, bronzers...etc.
That being said, I STILL go to Target and buy my face wash and stuff.
So. Why exactly should I take ALL my money and spend it at Target or Walgreens? Doesn't it all end up in the same place eventually? I still make sure my bills are paid and there will always be food on our table. The cost of my make up isn't going to send us to the poor house.
If some one chooses to buy a car during a recession and they can afford to buy a Jaguar, should they spend it some where more reasonable like a Chevy dealership and buy an Aveo? Same concept.
Its funny because most of those places get their makeup from a place called yourname which charges very low prices like 10 cents for an eyeshadow and then they just jack up the prices. there are some advantages to buying more expensive stuff, like a mineral makeup. 100% pure mineral makeup can work wonders for your face. You could wear it to bed and it wouldn't clog your pores, (unless you wore it all day and now have all of the daily toxins mixed in). It truly is amazing, but a cheaper brand might not be authentic. Jane Iredale is great, not too expensive, 100% mineral, and works wonders!
Some people are make-up addicts and want to look their best and some people are just very rich or have a good job and can afford nice things.
But i don't really care as all make-up is made up with the same ingredients and doesn't look any different on you when you used the same kind, like eyeliner, expensive or very cheap will just look the same.
I don't buy expensive stuff either because being able to afford food and other important needs is more important then looks.
Well this is just one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard!
If people don't buy these goods then others will lose their jobs. What do you think THAT does to the economy. Besides, if I can afford to buy it. What business is it of yours?
Try just thinking of it as their money and their right to spend it however they want. We all like to splurge and treat ourselves from time to time. If that's what makes them happy I'm all for it. It's basically harmless.
I don't have a problem with it, it's what they want to spend their money on. And in this today's economy we need people to buy more things not stop alltogether, otherwise there will be no money coming in!
By and large, the very rich aren't affected by the failing economy.
At least not enough to stop buying luxury goods.
What they do does not concern me. I am happy that I don't spend much on cosmetics, especially at upscale stores, but Walgreen's usually has what I want at a good price, and Target as well.
their money their problem. yep.
get over it.
what do you think of people asking questions about stuff that has nothing to do with them?
That is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!! Who do you think you are ragging on people, just because they can buy something you can't. Get a JOB!
I don't think anything of them because it's none fo my business what they spend their money on.
Because they have rich husbands or daddies
some of it really is better made and better for your skin!

What is the approximate starting salary of a department store cosmetics salesperson?
Considering that...
1) I'm referring to companies like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, etc.
2) I have no makeup sales or makeup artist experience yet (I do have a 4-year college degree).
3) I live in California (bay area). What is the approximate starting salary of a department store cosmetics salesperson?
Minimum wage or close to it. Between $7 - $10 per hour. What is the approximate starting salary of a department store cosmetics salesperson?
If you're working at an upscale department store, like Barney's, Neiman Marcus, or Saks, the starting salary for cosmetics saleswomen is about $15/hour, give or take.
In California, it $10 per hour-
Like let me look it up.
If you get into a good store--at least $30,000.00-$50,000.00 a year. Here in Ohio it's much lower--buy you're in a good area for that.

Do you find a value difference between drugstore cosmetics and department store cosmetics?
Obviously there is the initial cost - but I am talking about the overall (or specific) differences in value between, say a Maybelliene/Revlon/Cover Girl vs. MAC/Lauder/Dior. Where do you go for what?Do you find a value difference between drugstore cosmetics and department store cosmetics?
I buy both - but different products.
I never compromise on foundation, concealer and powder. I tried dozens of brands (both drugstore and department) before selecting my favorites - which at the moment are from MAC, Clinque, Bobbi Brown, Stila and Clarins. I also use Revlon Active and New Complexion but they are both considerably expensive in comparison to Maybelline or Cover Girl. The major difference I find is that department store brands offer a wider selection for color, skin type, coverage and lasting power.
Having said that, when it comes to other color cosmetics, I don't hesistate to select lipsticks, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara and blush from Revlon, Milani, Maybelline, Bourjois and Jane because the overall quality is more or less the same. The packaging is less dramatic and cheap but the products work the same.Do you find a value difference between drugstore cosmetics and department store cosmetics?
Some of the the products sold in a department store are better quality than the cheap one's sold in a drug store. To be honest if a cheap one works better than why not!
I buy both to be honest. Though I can clearly say that there is quite a difference in quality of product. I am a personal fan of Lancome products, esp. the mascara!! I will never go back to reg. brand again!
The only difference is in the packaging. The products are almost the same. You can compare ingredients to see that it's true.
I buy all my make-up in Sears at the Clinique Counter. I find the quality of the make up is much better, ie. the eye shadows are smoother, where as Cover Girl and other drug store brands seem to be cakier. Not only is the quality better, but the department stores have qualified people to help you choose what is best for your coloring, and most counters will keep track of what you have bought. Clinique has the best skin care products. Also with department store brands such as Clinique, Chanel, MAC etc, each color of say eye shadow will have colors of eyeliner and blush etc to compliment it.
Good luck.
Yes, in some things there is. Generally, the pigments are of higher quality in the department store brands, and they usually show up better on the skin and last longer. Some examples are in lipsticks, where the wax and pigments are more expensive, causing the manufacturers to charge more for the products. Eyshadows, lipsticks, and blushes tend to require good pigments to last longer. You spend more initially, but they last longer and wear longer. It is better than going back every two or three months for something better at the drugstore, only to have to go back again in the same amount of time!hair pieces

Where can I find Max Factor cosmetics? Seems like most stores dropped it.?
Go on the Max Factor website and e-mail them.Where can I find Max Factor cosmetics? Seems like most stores dropped it.?
bootsWhere can I find Max Factor cosmetics? Seems like most stores dropped it.?
WOW... What country you live in? I mean over here in U.K there are loads of Max Factor cosmetic. But anyway their product are found in Boot and Superdrug.
xxx
Try K-Mart and Meijer. I've seen it at both places. If you can't find it anywhere, it might just be your area, because it's all over the place here.
You could try and order it online from the UK as loads of stores stock it
I would call around. But in my city they are only sold at K-Mart and Wal-mart. Otherwise, you can order it online from their site. :)
Try Kmart.
sephora might have it.
Boots!
If you live in wales
Go ti cardiff they have a nice big counter:)

Do you think the cosmetics section in the Department stores would hire you if you had no work experience but..
but you were very passionate about cosmetics and you knew all ur colors, seasons, etc. everything about applying, had a mom that worked for elezibeth arden, etc.?Do you think the cosmetics section in the Department stores would hire you if you had no work experience but..
You can overcome lack of experience. Here are some ways:
1) Demonstrate you are familiar w/ the product line (i.e. target market/demographic, what makes each brand distinctive, price ranges, etc.)
2) Create a before %26amp; after portfolio of photos w/ before %26amp; afters for a casual look, a business/interview look %26amp; a glamor/evening look.
3) Be ready to explain why you really want the job %26amp; what sets you apart from other applicants. For example:
* Do you want to pursue a career in sales, retail, or cosmetology?
* Do you have previous related experience? (i.e. makeup for theatre) or volunteer work/paid jobs that demonstrate your maturity %26amp; ability to commit?
* Do you have references? (i.e. teachers, previous supervisors, people you've babysat for or helped)
Good luck!Do you think the cosmetics section in the Department stores would hire you if you had no work experience but..
Try this...fill out an application and when you are going to hand it in, see if you can see or set up a meeting with the person in charge of hiring, or the manager. If you have no experience, chances are they are going to dismiss your application right away. But, if you get a chance to discuss with them that you have a passion for cosmetics and show them how knowledgeable you are- you might get your foot in the door.
Hi Pook
Believe in yourself and send out your introduction letter and maybe go into a department store and speak to them and see what they say. Being passionate helps a lot. There is a job out there with your name on it. We all have to start from somewhere and I am sure that your mom can advise you on the best way to go.
Go for it.
I think they will train you if you were hired.
I have worked in the past at several different cosmetics counters- Clarins, Clinique, Arden.
Sales experience is very important - if you don't have it fake it! The most important thing that these companies are looking for is that you can SELL SELL SELL. Second, how you present yourself is important (professional, sophisticated, BUBBLY.) All the color knowledge is not as important believe it or not. That they can teach you but what they look for the most is an assertive people person that is not afraid or intimidated to approach people, get them into the cosmetic chair and start applying and ';romancing'; the products. If you can sell yourself to them they may hire without experience. It can be a fun job but is not as easy as it seems. There is a lot of sales pressure and long hours on your feet. If you don't mind all that then go for it. If you don't get hired first time, try again. I had 3 interviews before I was hired on my first cosmetics counter job!
Good Luck hope that helps =)
I am not sure about a department store I think they will train you to do any job...I know for a fact that you can sell Mary Kay as long as you are 18 or older. Mary Kay trains you fully.

How much do the cosmetic companies in department stores charge to do makeup?
like chanel or mac in Dillards for example. do they charge or do u just have to buy a product? i want them to do my whole face too.How much do the cosmetic companies in department stores charge to do makeup?
Yes, They do makeup for free... Shesado even does a free facial and its awesome, but they do work off of commission so it would be nice to buy something there, or perhaps see if they will take a tip. If it is for like prom or something and you pick how you want it done, it does require an appointment and they will charge you. But they will do it picking your shades and stuff for free.
have fun!!!How much do the cosmetic companies in department stores charge to do makeup?
If they are just showing you a few things yes it is free, but if they are doing a whole makeover it can run you $20-25. Buying product is always courteous since they have just spent so much time with you and away from other customers.
majority of places do them for free but you should all ways buy at lest one product its just common courtesy
I work for MAC at Nordstrom. We have a $45 fee for special occasions (i.e. prom, etc) and that $45 goes toward product purchase.
These services are generally free, however, a purchase is expected following the service.
most do makeovers for free, but a purchase is preferred.
It is free but out of courtesy you should spend money there when you are done. Have fun!

I would like to know which CCS (cosmetics company store) is the best stocked one in the LA area?
I know there are the
Desert Hills Premium Outlets - Cabazon, CA
The Block at Orange - Orange, CA
Camarillo Premium Outlets - Camarillo, CA
but does anyone one which one has/carries the most MAC?! I'm looking for brushes, not the Limit edition kind.
Thank you!I would like to know which CCS (cosmetics company store) is the best stocked one in the LA area?
I would just call one of the stores and ask them which one has the largest selection. I'd guess that it's one of the outlet stores.

It is better than going back every two or three months for something better at the drugstore, only to have to go back again in the same amount of time!

Have fun!

I Use Lip Smakers Lip Balms, Juice Tubes, Lip Glosses

I Use Many Products And In All The Brands Listed Above I Have Everything From:
Eye Liners, Mascara's, Lipsticks, Powders, Foundations, Eye Shadows, Blushes, Brushes, Glosses.
But Out Of All I' Think I Like Cover Girl It Can Be Found Everywhere, And They Have Affordable Pricing. What Cosmetics (Store Brands) Do You Use And Why?
i like almay,neutrogena,covergirl
i use MAC, BARE MINERALS , COVER GIRL , KISSES , BATH AND BODY WORKS LIP GLOSS. I MOSTLY BUY MY MAKE UP FROM TARGET I USE THOSE BECAUSE I LIKE IT AND I TRUST THEM

Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara, because it is just amazing.
Mac and benefit eye shadow, because they have great colors that compliment everyones skin tone.
i use benefit and lancome. the eyeshadow from lancome are super pigmented and they stay on forever. and as for benefit they have the best blush/concealer i have seen.

eyeliner: covergirl perfect plus
concealer: sonia kashuk palette (thought it would be better)
lips: maybelline shiny seduction (looks friggin sexy)

I use MAC most, but I do like Rimmel for drugstore brands.
They always have such nice colors, especially for eyeshadows, and their eyeliners work nicely. Loreal has come out with HIP, high intensity pigments, they have a lot of products inspired by the higher end makeup, and some work very well. I've only tried the pigment, eyeshadow and a lipgloss - the pigment was grainy but the shadow %26amp; gloss were decent.

Why do we have 10000 different fashion stores, cosmetics, yet people starve, and poverty exists!?
Why is it that we literally have 100000 different fashion designers, stores, and 1000000 different pairs of jeans, and 100000 factories manufacturing all of this, and it all gets thrown away if its not used, and people spend so much time getting ';The right size';, and getting ';The right makeup';, people even publish BOOKS on this stuff, down to the smallest detail, like it's SO SO very important.
We have a whole industry, the entertainment industry which GLORIFIES this, and this has all created BILLIONS of dollars for the industries, and also created anorexia, bulimia, misery, unhappiness, debt, insecurity, competition, and all other things.
Also, you can walk into any mall, get fancy clothes, fancy aromas, conditioners, anything your heart desires is yours, yet,
down the street somewhere, someone might be dying of aids, and we have completely destitute people and misery and aids, and so much hardship. it's so insane.
MANY neighborhoods will be poor forever, and the people living there will never be able to pull through, while the rich and upper middle class live like KINGS. Everything they want, SNAP it's right there. They want a new body, a new face, new wardrobe, new hair, new car, SNAP it's there.
They'll be treated better at job interviews, connections, theyve got it made, yet
the poor just get poorer because of all of this.
The rich keep snowballing success after success, getting better and better and better and thinner, and hotter, and more plastic year by year by year, and more more more,
while the poor struggle to just survive but can't make it anywhere because of their conditions and others REFUSING to help them, because theyre poor, and the middle class just rakes in debt trying to keep up..
isn't this disturbing?
That we have women obsessed with the latest skin care, la mer, this that, everyone wants the perfect hair, the perfect nose, the perfect everything....and we have like 100000 companies wasting SO MANY resources to create this stuff,
and the people that work there are also very fake,
not to mention, WHERE IS GOD inn all of this? NOWHERE.
It's totally profit driven.
How can this stuff go onn in our society, and HOW CAN everyone IGNORE IT so blatantly?
Everyone ignores it. literally. no one cares.
Yet we have poverty, starvation and all the other ****.
Can someone PLEASE make this make sense to me?Why do we have 10000 different fashion stores, cosmetics, yet people starve, and poverty exists!?
Your eyes are open!!! :)
There is no sense, no love in greed, lust and the mechanics of profit. There is no humanity. Only the profit matters. The humans become mere automatons, cogs in a machine to be replaced when worn, thrown away.
And people in the west can easily ignore it when they are allowed to wallow in greed, in vanity and excess, in a life filled without hardship, poverty or hard labour.
But bear in mind that everything in life is subject to change - and we must change with it.
Bear the knowledge of this dichotomy as best as you can.
Don't let the stupidity and arrogance of power and money injure you. See things in life as they really are.
Work to improve what you are able to. And know your limits as well as the limits of others.
Accept what you cannot change (and that includes the minds of others).
Teach, share freely and do your best in life. That's all you can do.Why do we have 10000 different fashion stores, cosmetics, yet people starve, and poverty exists!?
The world's overpopulated.
the world is a place full of
greed
lust
revenge
hate
sorrow
happiness
and many more things that might seem awful to u but another person might think something entirely different
The truth is that people cannot fully understand what others go through until they take the time to walk in their shoes. Most people will never do this because as the old adage goes, ';the truth hurts';. The ugly reality may be right outside the window, but as long as one can draw the curtains down it poses no threat to one's comfy way of life. Our defense-mechanisms tend to block out pain-evoking subjects, and that's why we ignore the suffering of others and instead fill our lives with the small joys given through vanity. It's one of the unfortunate sides to human nature that helps us to continue living, however ignorant we are in the process.
Starvation and poverty exist as they always have, and this touches on the idea of ';survival of the fittest';. In ancient or prehistoric times the poor would have been considered those without sufficient agriculture/animals/etc to feed themselves and survive. The ';rich'; would have been those with more than enough to get by, continue living, and create healthy offspring to follow in their footsteps. In today's society we no longer survive on the hunter/gatherer principals; our technology is what drives us forward. Therefore those that cannot even afford food/clothing/shelter cannot easily ';move up'; in a society obsessed with luxuries. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer because the differences between them become ever greater. At the end of the day our human nature tends to make us selfish, and our own survival instincts are all that matter to us (even when we have all that we could want and more).
I think you've asked a very thought-provoking question, and I hope that people will read it and open up their eyes a little bit more to what's going on in the world. For my part I'll share with you that I was raised ';middle-class'; with all of my necessities (and more) at my hands. When I left the US to live in Peru a couple years ago I learned what it was like to live in ';poverty'; for a while compared to the standards of living at home (although I did have a home, water, and enough food to get by). Even then I was lucky because my necessities were met while so many others must suffer every day.
Look at us now. Every person that answers this question is sitting behind a computer screen with at least enough money to have access to this level of technology. We are all eating enough, drinking clean water, certainly wearing clothing, inside of a house that probably belongs to us or a loved one. 10,000 fashion stores exist, but even those of us that do not spend our lives shopping are surrounded by luxuries like a simple indoor toilet. Why do we take it all for granted?
What are we doing right now to help the people in need?
wat the hell do u mean ';WHERES GOD IN THIS';???
hes helping ppl out of the crisis but its us who created the problem so y should he always hav to get us out. he gave us the world we screwwed it up.wen hes ready he'll come. i get wat ur sayin but ur wrong at this part.

Oooo... but trust me... I have been using both Shu Uemura and MAC for a long long time now... I love them both as much... Well, for different product.... But you wouldn't regret getting anything from Shu Uemura.. Especially their eyeliner pencils... They're just so beautiful and long lasting...! Alright, enough said.. Hopefully you'll find the brand as awesome as I do..!
Enjoy..!

What department store cosmetics brand has the best foundation and powder mix that does not look caked on?
I like MAC and Lancome :-DWhat department store cosmetics brand has the best foundation and powder mix that does not look caked on?
dermablend sold at dillards or other dept. storesWhat department store cosmetics brand has the best foundation and powder mix that does not look caked on?
I have found that the new mineral make up that the stores have out now is the best bet. ID has had bare minerals for a while now and its a great make up so now people like maybaline and neutragena are copying it. The best one I have found is Loreals ';bare minerals'; sold at any drug store. Its 13.00 a bottle and works wounders with coverage. Neutrgenas is cheaper but to me doesnt offer the coverage that the loreal version does.
I was brought onto this stuff by a client who I was doing m ake up for her wedding for. She said she would wear nothing but this stuff so I tried it myself and I LOVED IT!
It may take a little to match your skin tone, but wlamart and walgreens offer a return policy that if it doesnt match you can exchange it.
clinique is the bomb. they have one that goes on like a concealer and dries like a powder and feels really light but covers well.
I think chanel has an excellent foundation and so does trucco because you can still see your skin it just evens out the complexion also i think a primer is very important u put it on before foundation it fills in the fine lines and pores in your skin and also acts as an antioxidant to sheild all the bad stuff clarins has a good one and so does smash box
clinique
Have you considered mineral makeup?? It's a little pricier than your covergirl and revlon but similar in price to clinique and lancome but comes with more things. It's a feather light powder so won't cake on and is gentle on your skin. There are many different brands to look at and last a long time since it doesn't take much to cover your face. Try it. I love it.
try Iman you would love it.
I don't use a department store brand... I use Cover Girl in the blue oval shaped compact. It works very well and is not quite powder and not quite liquid. Very smooth.
MAC Studio Fix foundation and powder
Go with a mineral make up. I sell Lady Emily. I've always worn liquid foundations, then I found Mineral Make up, it's a powder that you brush on. It's a natural look, gives great coverage. You'll get that from any mineral make up and it doesn't come off on your clothes. Honestly, I can put my make up on and then put my shirt on. I don't look like a clown, it doesn't clog pore and you can even sleep in it.
Mac Studio Fix and Prescriptives Powderful...both are a powder and foundation in one and provide great coverage.
